Today around here

Today was the 5th day of March.
Today was the first day that felt like spring.
It was the warmest 5th March ever recorded in the Netherlands. My son played outside the whole afternoon without a jacket.
Today I properly noticed the flowering crocuses.

Today I saw the first butterfly.

Today I hung the laundry in the garden for the first time this year.

Today I worked on my quilt a bit – my first quilt ever.

Today I sowed the first seeds: tomatoes (Gruschovka & Ida Gold), eggplants (Diamond & Ukkie), hot peppers (Westlandse Lange Rode), tomatillo’s and Guatemalan ground cherry.

Today was a day full of mundane beauty.

Today was a good day.

I am an ex South African (Mother was Afrikaans Father English)
Love the crocuses and oh so home sick seeing the washing on the line.
I also taught myself to quilt in America you have done a great job.
I am 69 years old and do not sew much anymore time taken up with baby sitting grandkids after school.
Enjoy your little one. They grown too fast as your folks know.

Keep up the good work regarding your food blogging.

    Take care.

Thank you Elaine! It’s sweet to hear that the picture of my washing line made you feel home sick 🙂 My quilt is not so perfect on closer inspection, but I get a lot of joy from the process.
