Unfortunately, because of our cool & rainy climate, they are not easy to grow here. I’ve decided to give it a try anyway and to give the trees the best chance of success, we’re planting them in a warm sheltered microclimate between our pond and our hugelbed. We’ve also sought out a specialized nursery and asked their advice on best disease-resistant varieties. The apricot we chose is ‘Kyoto’ and peach is the leaf curl resistant ‘Avalon Pride’. Fingers crossed, we’ll be enjoying some beautiful blossom and harvesting delicious fruits in a few years time.<\/p>\n
<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6085\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0127.jpg?resize=500%2C667&ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0127.jpg?w=900&ssl=1 900w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0127.jpg?resize=225%2C300&ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0127.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0127.jpg?resize=560%2C747&ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0127.jpg?resize=260%2C347&ssl=1 260w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0127.jpg?resize=160%2C213&ssl=1 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6094\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?resize=800%2C533&ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?w=1200&ssl=1 1200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?resize=300%2C200&ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?resize=768%2C512&ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?resize=560%2C373&ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?resize=260%2C173&ssl=1 260w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/sized_0O3A0031.jpg?resize=160%2C107&ssl=1 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n
That’s the highlights from this month – what are you up to in your gardens?
