To do the laundry, have a break from driving and most importantly, check on the garden. Going to the allotment was (of course) the first thing we did after waking up early on Sunday morning. We spent three hot (like 34 degrees hot) but happy hours, weeding, watering and harvesting.
\nAnd even though I knew we would be leaving in another day, I also picked a bouquet of sweet peas, to put a little beauty surrounded by a cloud of the sweetest scent on our dining table while we’re here. Sweet peas (Lathyrus odoratus<\/em>) are not the longest lasting cut flowers, but they flower prolifically and to keep them flowering you have to pick them all the time.<\/p>\n
<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4155\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sized_One-day-bouquet-001.jpg?resize=750%2C500&ssl=1\" alt=\"sweet peas\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sized_One-day-bouquet-001.jpg?w=1000&ssl=1 1000w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sized_One-day-bouquet-001.jpg?resize=300%2C200&ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sized_One-day-bouquet-001.jpg?resize=560%2C373&ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sized_One-day-bouquet-001.jpg?resize=260%2C173&ssl=1 260w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.growntocook.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/sized_One-day-bouquet-001.jpg?resize=160%2C106&ssl=1 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/>
\nThis year, I am growing sweet peas on a bamboo- wigwam in my three-square-meters-annual-cut-flower-border.
