May tour of the kitchen garden

It’s finally gotten warmer which means the plant growth has accelerated. Up till now things were moving slowly – April was cold with some heavy frosts and I was delaying planting out non-hardy vegetables like tomatoes and squash. But with all the warmth and sunshine at the moment everything started growing much faster and every day our raised beds are getting fuller. It is still early in the season though which means we’re harvesting lots of salad greens (and rhubarb) but not much else. There are lots of vegetables on their way and, fingers crossed, June will be the beginning of truly abundant harvests.

We filmed a tour of the garden bed-by-bed, were you can see everything we’re growing and also the different mulches we use.

I hope you enjoy the tour – thanks for watching!

Thank you, Maya! I tried coffee grounds this year for the first time and was very surprised by how much it helped against slugs!
